Welcome to the website for Troop #70 Peacemakers! Troop #70 was first chartered in 1972 and is part of the Freedom Trail District of the Del-Mar-Va Council. We've proudly been sponsored by Silverside Church for the past thirty-five years. The troop meets on Thursday evenings at 7:00 PM and consists of three patrols: the Warrior patrol, the Brave patrol, and the Cherokee patrol. Troop #70 emphasizes a boy-run program devoted to camping, advancement and community service.
Troop #70 has an extremely active year-round camping schedule, including weekend camping from September through June, and long-term summer camp, traditionally the first full week of August. Weekend camping activities vary between basic Scouting activities and hiking, district camporees, council jamborees and high adventure activities including rock-climbing, whitewater rafting, shooting sports, skiing and snowboarding, spelunking, and canoeing. Troop #70 also holds a high adventure activity every other year, alternating destinations each time.
The leadership of Troop #70 believes that the troop's emphasis on camping, advancement, and community service has lent to it's long-term success. While active recruitment is always important, we believe our program speaks for itself.
