Troop #70 is returning to Florida Sea Base during the summer of 2009. We received our first choice of crew activities and dates: three (3)
Coral Reef Sailing Crews! We'll depart for Florida on June 14, 2009, run our trek from June 15-21, and return home on June 22.

Eligibility Requirements
  • Participants must be registered Boy Scouts or Adult Leader.
  • Active Scouts will receive crew space priority, with only two spots per crew initially assigned to active, registered leaders. If after the
    initial sign-ups there are any remaining spots, they will be offered first to other active, registered leaders; then to active, non-
    registered adults; and lastly to inactive, non-registered adults.
  • Participants must be Fourteen (14) years old by September 1, 2009.  AGE REQUIREMENTS FOR SEA BASE CANNOT BE
    RELAXED.
  • Ability to swim 100 yards (official BSA swim test) and stay afloat for one (1) minute.
  • Must be in good health evidenced by a SEA BASE Class III medical form filled out and signed by your doctor within the past 12
    months.
  • No participant may weigh in excess of 300 pounds.
  • All participants must know and use the Scout Oath and Law as their guide to appropriate behavior at Sea Base.

Crew Requirements
  1. At least half of the members in every crew must be youth.
  2. All registered adults must have completed the B.S.A. Youth Protection Training.
  3. Leaders must be trained in first aid, CPR, Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat.
  4. Each crew must have at least two adult leaders. One of the adults must be over the age of twenty-one (21), the other must be at
    least eighteen (18) years of age.

Fees and Payment Schedule
Dates and amounts are based on the 2008 program and are subject to change.
  • Coral Reef Sailing: $5,200.00 per Crew of 6-8 ($650-$877/participant)
  • 02/28/08 $100/person due
  • 06/30/08 $300/person due
  • 09/25/08 $300/person due
  • 01/08/09 $300/person due
  • 05/28/09 $200/person due

As reference, total fees, including FSB and travel expenses, for 2005 were approximately $1,000.00.

All participants are covered by the sailing vessel's fishing license.
All participants must have a Peacemaker t-shirt to use as a Class B uniform.
